Defending the Faith

The apostle Peter charged the early Christians: “Always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15). The Greek word for “defense” is apologia — a reasoned answer. In every generation the church has been called to give such answers: to skeptics who challenge the faith, to seekers who want to understand it, and to her own children who are learning to think Christianly in a world that pulls a thousand other ways.

Defending the Faith at Pray’s Mill is our standing class on Christian apologetics — the discipline of giving honest, biblical, well-reasoned answers to the questions our neighbors actually ask.

We do not believe Christian apologetics is about winning arguments. It is about loving our neighbors enough to take their questions seriously and answering them with the honest truth, anchored in the Word of God. The Christian faith is not a fragile thing that needs to be hidden from hard questions; it is the truest thing in the universe, and it stands up to honest inquiry.
